|
|
Wait at least three (3) months
after breast surgery, the completion of chemotherapy or
radiation before a thermology examination. |
|
Avoid any natural or artificial
tanning of your chest for seven (7) days prior to the
study date. |
|
No significant fevers within
thirty-six (36) hours of the examination. |
|
|
Avoid any clinical physical
stimulation, examination or compression of the breasts
(self or clinical examination, ultrasound or mammogram)
for at least 3 days prior to the examination. |
|
|
Refrain from a sauna, steam-room
or hot/cold packs in contact with the breasts for at least
twenty-four (24) hours prior to the examination. |
|
|
Men : Do
not shave your face 48 hours prior to the screening the
study day. |
|
|
Women : Do not shave underarms
or legs (for lower body screening) 48 hours prior to the
screening. |
|
|
Do
use any skin creams, lotions, deodorants or powders on
your breasts or underarms on the study day. |
|
|
Refrain
from exercise, bathing or showering for four (4) hours
prior to examination. |
|
|
Refrain from any tobacco use,
caffeinated coffee or tea consumption for two (2) hours
prior to the examination. |
|
|
No treatment (chiropractic,
acupuncture, TENS, physical therapy, electrical muscle
stimulation, ultrasound, hot or cold pack use) of the
neck, back, chest, or breasts for 24 hours before the
exam. |
|
|
If you are nursing, please try
to nurse as far from 1 hour prior to the exam as possible. |
|
Do not expose to outside environmental
extremes, such as very cold or warm temperatures, you
should acclimate in a comfortable room temperature for
approximately thirty (30) minutes prior to the equilibration
process. |

Please
note: During the examination you will disrobe from the
waist up for both imaging and to allow for the surface
temperature of the body to equilibrate with the room.
A female technician/thermographer will take your images.
Surgical procedures such as implants, reductions, and
biopsies do not interfere with infrared imaging. Breast
infrared imaging is perfectly safe to have during pregnancy
or when nursing.
